40 free The Beatitudes trivia questions with answers — trivia quiz, new questions added Oct 2026.
The Beatitudes are among the best-known words Jesus spoke: a short run of blessings that opens the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew's Gospel and turns ordinary ideas of good fortune upside down. People who seem to have lost out are told that the future belongs to them. Luke records a shorter, sharper version, and the two are worth reading side by side. This quiz starts with the text itself: who is blessed, what each group is promised and how the wording shifts between Bible translations. It then moves outward to the hillside setting, the Old Testament passages the blessings echo, the church built to remember them, and the way Catholic, Protestant and other traditions have read, sung and argued about them. A few questions set the Beatitudes beside the fruit of the Spirit, since the two lists are often learned together and easily mixed up. It suits Sunday school and religious education classes, confirmation groups, Bible study evenings and anyone who wants to check how well they really know a passage they have heard many times. Every answer comes with a short explanation, and the full set can be printed for a class or a quiz night.

Latin Bibles begin every one of the blessings with the word beati, and the noun beatitudo was coined by the Roman orator Cicero.
