50 free Dionysus trivia questions with answers — history quiz, new questions added Oct 2026.
Dionysus was the outsider of Olympus: the god of wine, theatre and ecstasy, a late arrival whose worship could be joyful one moment and terrifying the next. The Romans knew him as Bacchus, and his name still clings to every wild party. His story has one of the strangest births in Greek myth and a trail of kings, sailors and doubters who learned the hard way not to turn him away. This quiz follows that story from his childhood among the nymphs to his marriage, his travelling band of followers and the punishments he handed out. It also covers the Athenian festivals that gave the world drama, the Roman cult that alarmed the authorities, and the painters, sculptors, philosophers, novelists and game makers who kept coming back to him. It is written for mythology fans, students working through the Greek gods, teachers and quiz hosts. Most questions can be reasoned out by a curious reader, a few will test anyone who knows the ancient poets well, and every answer comes with a short explanation.
