Bruno Heller did not think the Dark Knight worked on television, so on his son's suggestion he built five seasons around a young Jim Gordon, a 12-year-old Bruce Wayne and the slow corruption of the city's future villains. It ran 100 episodes on Fox from 2014 to 2019, filmed in New York, and ended with a grown Bruce and a searchlight on the roof of the GCPD.
