40 free Order of the Eastern Star trivia questions with answers — history quiz, new questions added Oct 2026.
The Order of the Eastern Star is a fraternal organization open to both women and men, with chapters in many countries. It grew out of a simple idea in the middle of the nineteenth century: that the wives, daughters, mothers, widows and sisters of lodge members deserved a share in the fellowship. Around that idea grew a ritual built on five women of the Bible, a star with a meaning for each point, and a tradition of charity that runs through its chapters. This quiz covers the ground a member, a candidate or a curious relative would expect: who created the order and who organized it, what the colors and emblems of the star stand for, which officers do what in a chapter room, who may join, and where its headquarters and historic landmarks are found. The opening questions suit newcomers. Later ones reward those who know the history of the ritual. It works as a study aid before a chapter program, as an icebreaker at a meeting, or as a quick test for anyone who has seen the star on a ring or a gravestone and wondered what it meant. Each answer comes with a short explanation, and the questions can be printed for use on paper.
