50 free Synthesizers trivia questions with answers — music quiz, new questions added Oct 2026.
The synthesizer went from a laboratory curiosity to the sound of pop in about twenty years. Machines that once filled a room and took months to coax a melody from ended up on stage, in bedrooms and inside every laptop, and along the way they changed how records, film scores and video games sound. This quiz covers the whole story: the engineers and tinkerers who built the early instruments, the classic keyboards and drum machines and what made each one different, the basic building blocks of a synthesized sound, and the artists, albums and soundtracks that made electronic tones famous. Most questions are aimed at curious music fans rather than studio engineers, with a tougher run at the end for people who know their knobs and patch cables. Every answer comes with a short explanation, so you can play it straight through or print it for a music round.
